Synopsis

Seville, Spain, present time. Father Urbizu glances up at the decrepit façade of Nuestra Señora de las Lágrimas church. He makes a call on his cell and invokes the help of God. He goes to a door that opens easily. He continues through scaffolding and construction materials. As he looks at the magnificent statue of Our Lady of the Tears, a heavy chain pulley from a scafold falls on his head killing him instantly.

A hacker penetrates the inner security of the Vatican and leaves a message for the Pope, “In Seville, a church to be demolished is killing to defend itself.” The Pope orders The Institute of External Affairs (Istituto per le Opere Esteriore, IOE), to conduct an urgent investigation and to contain scandal. The IOE’s Director, Monsignor Spada), assigns the mission to its best agent, Father Quart. Quart is handsome, elegant and worldly. He possesses extensive experience in the most dark and delicate affairs of the Holy See.

Quart arrives in the magical and ancient Andalusian city and meets the Duchess Macarena Bruner, an aristocratic beauty whose family, based on an ancient provilege, owns the rights to the land where the church and the convent stand. Alongbwith her mother, the parish priest and a nun, she tries to stop it from being torn down by a group of investors led by her ex- husband, (Pencho) who are developing a huge construction project. “No land, no project”. The Archbishop and a “seen-it-all” detective are also entwined in this drama. Quart’s mission is compromised by falling in love with Macarena. Forbidden love, revenge and passion are all threads weaving through this action, mystery thriller.

Quart confronts danger, intrigue, mystery, murderers for hire, twisted morals…and the beautiful Macarena, who brings him intimate contradictions and dilemmas, elements, which so exquisitely articulated, build the layers of this fascinating saga filled with tension, suspense: all the ingredients of an engaging, suspendul, Mystery Thriller.
